In a period less than 50 years the world’s population has double in size. Nowadays, 55% of its population lives in cities, the world’s population 50 years ago. In a world of rapid urbanization, cities are becoming a highly complex phenomenon. The strategies needed to address this context are changing constantly.
Our experience in cities around the world, has helped us to develop our own methodology. We define our approach as evolutionary urbanism by which we understand the design of self-organized environments through technological relationship between nature and society.
Cities, as natural organisms do, evolve over time. Urban design must incorporate evolution and time as a powerful design strategy. Versus traditional rigidity of Master Plan evolutionary urbanism faces an open process, where each stage/phase is an autonomous urban structure. Urban design is an evolving process able to adapt to citizens, politicians, professionals, associations and environment.
